The private School Doğa Koleji in Alanya focuses on living in a democratic environment and education. Doğa Koleji consists of a kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and a high school.
The private School, Alanya Doğa Koleji is a part of the Doğa Schools in Turkey, which was founded in 2002 by Fethi Simsek. The Doğa private school in Alanya especially focuses on nature and on how to teach the children in the school to treat the nature better and respect it more. Doğa Koleji has invested a lot of money on making a little traditional farm on the schools property – The little traditional farm at the school is a favorite, especially for the children in kindergarten and primary school who hereby also learns how to take care of something as precious as another living being.
The school has a weakness for decorating classrooms based on the theme of the particular subject. The mathematic-group room is decorated with all the mathematic symbols, like Pi, and all kinds of formulas. There is a place at the school, for the students with a preference for art – The students can express their creativity, and make their “visions” come alive at the art place, for example by painting the walls in one of the rooms or sewing a dress in another room. The art place is inspired by the different art subjects, and also by nature and the four seasons of the year.
It costs 50 Euro a month to be a student at the Doga koleji Schools in Alanya. If a student wishes to get food, from the cafeteria, included, it costs an addition of 15 Euro a month for a student. The School offers a special proposition for students with a scholarship – they get 20 percent of.
Different from Denmark is not only the fact that the environment is so important. The teachers walk around in white coats as if it were a hospital. This makes it seem more professional, and you might think that the student-teacher relationship therefore is way more professional than in Denmark, but actually they are as friendly and relaxed towards each other as we are in Denmark. One last big difference from this school and a Danish school is that already in kindergarten they learn English for 10 lessons a week. That’s a whole lot of English my friends.
